Now that 2019 versions of the iPhone- the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max- have already been launched and garnering right amount of attention for their upgraded cameras and the pricing which seems just about right this year it is on us to let you understand what differences and similarities the trio of the iPhones have in them.
It is, however, easy to guess since the iPhone 11 is the most affordable of the lot it is not on par with the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max but does it gives up far too many features compared to the iPhone 11 Pro versions. We will examine. Also, we will let you know how the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max measure up against each other. So here we go.
Design and build
Talking about the design, all the new iPhones are similar to look at except the rear panel which sports triple cameras in the case of the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max while dual cameras for the iPhone 11. Also, the iPhone 11 Pro models use matte textured glass at the back along with a stainless steel frame whereas the iPhone 11 has standard rear glass and aluminum frame.
Upfront, all the iPhones use a familiar wider notch at the top middle portion of the display. All the three iPhones are IP68 certified but the Pro models have deeper immersion threshold- up to four meters in 30 minutes vs up to two meters in 30 minutes in the case of the standard iPhone 11
All three iPhones are packed with different sized displays. While the iPhone 11’s LCD display is impressive the OLED displays of the Pro models are definitely brighter.
The iPhone 11 features a 5.8-inch LCD Liquid Retina Display with 1792×828 resolution, 1400:1 contrast ratio, and 625 nits brightness whereas the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max respectively make use of a 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED Super Retina displays with different resolutions- 2436×1125 for Pro model and 2688×1242 for the Pro Max model.
Displays of all three iPhones are equipped with True Tone and Haptic Touch (No 3D Touch this year). The HDR technology is exclusive to the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. The latter models boast of 2 million-to-one contrast ratio and 800 nits brightness.
Under the hood
All the iPhone 2019 runs iOS13 but under the hood, they are powered by the same A13 Bionic chip with a third-
generation neural engine, The A13 Bionic is claimed to be armed with world’s fastest mobile GPU and CPU. While RAM capacities are not revealed all the new iPhones pack 64GB/128G/256GB internal storage which is non-expandable.
Similar to RAM Apple also didn’t talk about the battery capacities of each iPhones but emphasized that they are improved from their previous generations. According to Apple, the battery of iPhone 11 lasts one hour longer than the iPhone XR while the iPhone 11 Pro lasts 4 hours longer than the iPhone XS. The iPhone 11 Pro Max, on the other hand, lasts 5 hours longer than the iPhone XS Max.
The batteries support 18W fast charging but the 18W adapter will only be shipped with the Pro models. In the case of the iPhone 11, it is sold separately. All the phones support wireless charging as well.
As said earlier one of discernable differences in the latest iPhones is reflected in the camera department with iPhone 11 getting two sensors with dual-LED flash and the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max getting three rear sensors with dual-LED flash.
The iPhone 11 has dual 12MP cameras comprising one wide sensor with f/1.8 aperture and one ultra-wide sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, on the other hand, have triple 12MP cameras including an extra telephoto lens with f/2.0 aperture. The other two are carried forward from the iPhone 11. The the iPhones mount an improved 12MP sensor for selfies.
The iPhone 11 has 2x optical zoom out and 5x digital zoom capabilities while the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max get 2x optical zoom out as well as 2x optical zoom in along with 10x digital zoom. The Pro models also get dual OIS as against the iPhone 11’s standard OIS. All three phones are supported with Smart HDR, Portrait Mode, Portrait Lighting as well as Face ID.
The iPhone 11 will be available at a starting price of USD699 in as many as six colors: Red, Purple, White, Yellow, Green, and Black. The iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, on the other hand, are set at USD999 and USD1099, respectively. They will be available in Green, Silver, Gold, and Gray color options. The three iPhones will go on sale beginning September 20 for which pre-ordering starts as early as September 13.
