On the heels of reporting that Motorola is considering the Moto G Stylus, its first S Pen laden smartphone alongside the flagship Motorola Edge+, here we are, with yet another news for you. Motorola is working on what appears to be a mid-tier or budget smartphone with a whopping 5,000mAh battery.
The smartphone has come to light after it was listed on the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website with the model number XT2055-2 revealing a few other details besides the battery capacity.
The smartphone in question is codenamed “Blackjack”, though its actual name remains a matter of speculation. Nevertheless, chances of it being the upcoming Motorola 8 Power is out of the question since the latter bears the model number XT2041.
Per the FCC listing, the model number XT2055-2 measures 165x76mm in dimension and 175mm (~6.8 inches) diagonally suggesting the phone could pack a 6.6-inch screen minus the bezels. Other vital things listed are 5000mAh battery, single-band Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth LE, and FM Radio.

It is the single-band Wi-Fi that is enough of a hint for the smartphone to be budget-oriented. Also, these days many smartphone manufacturers have been stuffing their budget phones with 4,500mAh or 5,000mAh batteries. The listed 5,000mAh battery, therefore, could be another hint pointing in this direction.
According to a report of Nashville Chatter, the XT2055-2 may also have two other different market versions in XT2055-1 and XT2055-3.
While the FCC has revealed the XT2055-2 with 5,000mAh battery, there are also a couple of devices waiting in the wings packing a 4,000mAh battery each such as the Motorola XT2043-4, XT2043-5, and XT2043-6. These models have also taken the rounds of the FCC certification database.
Besides all that, a bunch of other Motorola phones could also be on the horizon as they have recently passed different certifications. For example, the XT2045-1 and XT2045-2 have gone past the EEC and FCC database, whereas the XT2051-1 and XT2053-2 have popped up on WFA.
It is not clear as of now when these phones, including the XT2055-2 ‘Blackjack’ will see the daylight. However, Motorola is likely geared up to unveil its flagship Motorola Edge+ with Snapdragon 865 SoC and Moto G8 series of phones with a punch-hole display at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020 in Barcelona, Spain. The Lenovo-owned company has a product launch event slated for February 22, just a day ahead of MWC 2020 formally kicks off.
