Back in July this year a rumor surfaced suggesting that HMD Global could well be in the works of a premium smartphone allegedly the Nokia 8.2 with a pop-up camera. And it seems the smartphone is going to be unveiled as early as the first week of December.

The Finnish company has posted a teaser video on Twitter, revealing it is launching a new smartphone on December 5, even so, it didn’t specify the name of the device. But given that the Nokia 8.1 was launched at the same time last year it is safe to assume the company is referring to the Nokia 8.2 as its next launch.

Also, after launching a bunch of phones at MWC 2019, HMD Global has been relatively quieter for a long time now. So, the launch of the Nokia 8.2 will likely bring Nokia back in the business.

Aside from a pop-up selfie camera, the Nokia 8.2 is also likely to pack a 64MP primary camera as part of a quad-rear-camera setup. However, there is no official confirmation regarding the specs of the Nokia 8.2 as of now. Whatever is known that is purely based on rumors.

If we pay heed to rumor mill, then Nokia 8.2 could be powered by a Snapdragon 730 SoC paired with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB default storage. It is likely to run the latest Android flavor, the Android 10 and will be equipped with 5G support. The selfie camera is tipped to be of 32GB resolution.

The rest of the specifications remain a mystery as yet. However, towards the launch, the HMD might drop hints about the phone as to what is in store.

On an entirely different note, however, speculations are also rife that the smartphone launching on December 5 could also be either the Nokia 2.3 or the Nokia 5.2, two affordable phones which are also reported to be in the making.

Whilst the Nokia 2.3 is fundamentally an entry-level smartphone probably driven by a MediaTek processor the Nokia 5.2 is expected to integrate a Snapdragon 660 processor along with 6GB RAM, 48MP primary camera, and 3,920mAh battery.

Notwithstanding the suspense over the exact device making the cut growing, the Nokia 8.2, at the best guess, seems to be on its way to be unveiled on December 5. Let’s not forget the Christmas holiday season is around the corner and HMD Global would like to sign off the year on a high note with a premium offering i.e the Nokia 8.2.
