To ensure genuinely bezel-less display different OEMs are using various methods such as a notch, punch-hole, pop-up camera, or even the flip camera in their smartphones. However, ZTE’s sub-brand Nubia has taken a different approach for it.

It has attached a secondary display to the back of its new flagship, the Nubia 20Z. The full-fledged 5.1-inch FHD+ display on the rear also acts as a viewfinder for the selfies, thus eliminating the need for a front-facing separate selfie shooter. What is needed here is just a flip of the phone for clicking the selfie shots.

Other than being used for selfies the secondary display also works as Always on Display, since it is AMOLED panel. The screen on the back is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, so no worries for its safety. The rear screen also supports the seamless transition of the apps from the front screen. The latter is also protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and spans 6.52 inches diagonally with FHD+ resolution.

The Nubia 20Z was unveiled back in August and was only available in China so far. The Nubia 20Z has now been launched globally and will go on sale in the US, UK, Canada, Europe, Macau, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Australia in Diamond Black and Twilight Blue color options, priced at USD549/EUR499.

The smartphone, other than its secondary display uniqueness, also features powerful hardware. A 2.9GHz 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage pumps power from under the hood. It runs Android 9 Pie with Nubia UI 7 on top and is backed by a 4,000mAh battery with 27W fast charging support over USB Type-C port.

On the back, there are three cameras including a 48MP f/1.7 primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom, and a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide sensor with autofocus. As already explained, this impressive camera loadout is also used for snapping high-quality selfies.

The Nubia Z20, amongst other things, supports HDR 10, DTS HD Sound, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and GPS. The fingerprint scanner comes in a pair; each is side-mounted on the aluminium frame. The smartphone tips the scales at 186 grams and measures 158.6×75.3x9mm in dimension.
