We can see a few lite versions of the flagship smartphones from different manufacturers launching. in the coming months. With the Galaxy Note 10 Lite and Galaxy S10 Lite reportedly in the development, a new report courtesy of 91Mobilles suggests OnePlus is also working on the OnePlus 8 Lite, which will join ranks with the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro due for Q1 2020.

It is, however, not clear when exactly the OnePlus 8 Lite will make its debut, but, as a rule, the lite versions always follow after the launch of the premium versions.

The strategy of OnePlus here is to offer its fans an affordable alternative to the OnePlus 8 and the 8 Pro with some pared-down specs and features, but with the same premium design look.

The talk of the OnePlus 8 Lite revives the memory of the OnePlus X launched in 2015 as a spiritual but cheaper successor to the OnePlus One and the OnePlus 2.

91Mobiles via OnLeaks have published CAD-based renders and a 360-video of the alleged OnePlus 8 Lite revealing a flat-screen front and a curved back which lacks a fingerprint scanner. It gives rise to the possibility of an in-display fingerprint scanner, meaning the display of the OnePlus 8 Lite will be OLED.

OnLeaks predicts a 6.4 or 6.5-inch display, but it is not known whether the display will come with a 90Hz refresh rate or less. OnePlus during the launch of the OnePlus 7T had, however, confirmed that going forward, all the OnePlus phones will feature 90Hz display.

In the renders, the back of the phone showcases a protruded camera module on the top-left corner housing two cameras paired with an LED flash. A likely ToF sensor for depth effect sits adjacent to the camera module as well.

The front, on the other hand, gets a single selfie camera punched inside a centrally-aligned cutout, which appears to be small.

The bezels appear slim, however, not on par with the incumbent OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro. A USB Type-C port is also spotted, but a 3.5mm headphone jack is conspicuously missing out from the scene. The dimension of the phone is predicted to be 159.2x74x8.6mm.

The report doesn’t say anything about the possible specifications of the alleged phone. Hopefully, in the coming months, some details in this regard may trickle out.

Having said that, we shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that the company hasn’t said or alluded anything about the purported OnePlus 8 Lite yet, so everything at this juncture should be taken with a pinch of salt. Stay tuned with us more such updates.
