OPPO launched OPPO Reno Ace with world’s first 65W SupperVOOC 2.0 Fast Charge and Snapdragon 855+ SoC in China last month. And now it is being reported that the company is gearing up to launch another Reno-series smartphone, the OPPO Reno 3.
The OPPO Reno 3 will be the successor to the OPPO Reno 2 which saw the light at the fag end of August in India with 48MP triple-rear camera and Snapdragon 730G SoC. The OPPO Reno 3, however, will wield a 60MP primary camera, a Snapdragon 735 SoC, and more.
Recently, a leak has popped up online on the Chinese microblogging website Weibo revealing the spec sheet of the OPPO Reno 3 with expected price tags. According to the leak, the OPPO Reno 3 will come with a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED 90Hz screen. The display will have 1080×2400 full HD+ resolution, Gorilla Glass 6 protection as well as a fingerprint scanner embedded right into it.
On the inside, the Reno 3 will draw power from 7nm architecture-based Snapdragon 735 octa-core SoC which is expected to be announced soon by Qualcomm. The mid-tier Snapdragon 735 SoC will ensure significant performance enhancement over the Snapdragon 730/730G SoCs.
The upcoming processor will come with Adreno 610 GPU and also feature a 5G modem paving the way for the mid-range oriented smartphones to have 5G networks support. The OPPO Reno 3 is hence expected to be 5G-enabled as well.
The smartphone will pack 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB built-in storage based on UFS 2.1. On the software front, it will boot Android 9 Pie with ColorOS 6 UI slapped on top. The Reno 3 will be stacked with a 4,500mAh battery armed with 30W VOOC 4.0 fast charging.
Instead of triple camera setup on the OPPO Reno 2, there will be a quad-camera module on the back of the OPPO Reno 3 with a 60MP primary sensor. The configuration will also include a 13MP telephoto lens, 8MP wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. On the front, a 32MP sensor will hold the fort for selfies and video chatting.
Other notable things about the phone include USB Type-C port, NFC, IR Blaster, and dual stereo speakers.
The OPPO Reno 3 is expected to be unveiled in December or at the start of next year. For the pricing as per the leak, the OPPO Reno 3 for the 128GB storage model will be priced at CNY3,299 (Approx. USD461) whereas for the 256GB storage model it will cost CNY3,599 (Approx. USD514).
Nevertheless, OPPO hasn’t confirmed anything about the alleged Reno 3 as yet. Hence, the leaked information should be taken with a grain of salt for now.
Meanwhile, OPPO is working on another Reno series phone, the Reno S with 64MP primary camera, 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 Fast Charge, and a probable Snapdragon 855+ SoC. The smartphone is likely to be India-specific. It may land in the first week of December at a price of INR40,000 (Approx. USD560).
