I almost believed GTA 6 would reach PC through Xbox Cloud, until that story fell apart in a day. The real answer, if the sources are right, is a lot better.

Rockstar Games is reportedly planning to release the PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI in the first quarter of 2027, according to [GamesBeat](https://gamesbeat.com/grand-theft-auto-vis-pc-release-is-slated-for-q1-2027/), which cited four anonymous industry sources. The [console versions launch](https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/5171972o3ak5oa/pre-order-grand-theft-auto-vi-on-june-25) on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, and Rockstar has not announced a PC release or commented on the report.

Rockstar hasn’t confirmed any of this, so I’m filing it under strong report rather than settled fact. Four sources saying the same thing still counts for something.

Rockstar’s last PC wait lasted nearly two years
-----------------------------------------------

[GTA 5](https://bestforandroid.com/apk/94fbr-gta-mod-apk-download/) launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, and the PC version didn’t arrive until April 2015, roughly one year and seven months later. Cutting that gap to a few months would be a big shift.

PC players have always made up a smaller share of GTA’s audience, but with a production budget rumored to top $2 billion, I can see why Rockstar would want every platform earning money as soon as possible.

Roleplay servers only exist on the PC version
---------------------------------------------

FiveM, the modification framework behind [GTA 5’s roleplaying servers](https://bestforandroid.com/web/gta-5-copies-sold/), runs only on PC. Rockstar bought Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM, in August 2023, and it has signaled plans for user-generated content tools in GTA 6.

To me, that reads like a company that sees roleplay as part of GTA’s future. [GTA 5](https://bestforandroid.com/apk/gta-v5-port-mod-apk-download/) also pulled in 362.2 million hours watched on Twitch in the first half of 2026, so the streaming audience is huge.

Twitch’s CEO says GTA 6 online arrives next year
------------------------------------------------

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy [told Bloomberg](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-09-17/twitch-ceo-urges-game-firms-to-avoid-attention-vortex-of-gta-6) at Tokyo Game Show that GTA 6 online will launch next year. Rockstar hasn’t announced a date for it.

If roleplay servers matter as much as they seem to, PC needs to be in the picture around the same time, and a Q1 2027 release fits that timeline neatly.

The Xbox Cloud rumor fell apart last week
-----------------------------------------

A separate report claimed GTA 6 was heading to Xbox Cloud Gaming, which briefly raised hopes of streaming it on Windows.

Xbox’s Matthew Ball shut that down and said the game won’t be streamed to PCs. If the GamesBeat report holds up, nobody needs that workaround anyway.

Two delays and unofficial ports add risk to the schedule
--------------------------------------------------------

Rockstar has already delayed GTA 6 twice, first from 2025 to May 2026 and then to November 19. The PC version reportedly has to meet the same quality bar as the console release, so I’d treat Q1 2027 as a target, not a promise.

Community developers have also gotten good at running console-only games on PC, including Bloodborne and a Silent Hills playable tester. Rockstar probably isn’t losing sleep over that yet, but another year and a half of waiting wouldn’t help its case.

I’ve been let down by Rockstar’s PC timelines before, so I won’t cheer until there’s an official date. For the first time in years, though, I’m letting myself think about building a PC around a GTA launch.
