For the past many days, rumor has been doing the rounds that a new Redmi Note 8-series smartphone, the Redmi Note 8T is on its way. And now confirming its existence further the Redmi Note 8T has leaked in live photos. The live photos also reveal vital specs of the smartphone which match with the specs of the Redmi Note 8 except for the now-included NFC support.
If you remember, the Redmi Note 7 was earlier succeeded with the Redmi Note 7S which came with a better 48MP primary camera. So, with Redmi Note 8T the Chinese marquee is going to repeat the same stuff by replacing its regular Note model.
Although “T” suffix as in the mid-year refreshes of OnePlus phones ensures significant upgrades, here nothing of that sort is going to happen.
The famous leakster on Twitter, Sudhanshu Ambhore recently posted live images of the Redmi Note 8T that include unboxing materials and a promotional sticker pasted on the front of the smartphone.
The unboxed Redmi Note 8T is of blue color option, in particular. However, the retail box on the front features the image of all the variants in all other paint jobs that will be available. Other unboxed materials in the photos include a charger, Type-C cable, and a transparent protective case.
The promotional sticker reveals that the Redmi Note 8T will come with a 6.3-inch Dot Drop Display. The phone will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back. On the optics front, the Redmi Note 8T will sport vertically-aligned 48MP AI quad-rear-camera setup including an ultra-wide-angle as well as a macro lens.
Also, mentioned is a 4,000mAh high-capacity battery that will juice the device with the support of 18W fast charging over USB Type-C port. The live photo also confirms the presence of the USB Type-C port at the bottom flanked by a microphone and the speaker grille. The back is seen mounting a usual fingerprint scanner as well.
In the end, the sticker also mentions the processor for the Redmi Note 8T which is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 AIE SoC. GizmoChina also reports it has got hold of live images of the smartphone with a variant showing 4GB RAM and 64GB built-in storage.
Everything that has been revealed in the live photos so far is the same as found in the regular Redmi Note 8. The only difference spotted as of now is the presence of NFC support for the Redmi Note 8T, something which was missing from the standard Redmi Note 8.
Indeed, just a mere addition of NFC doesn’t make sense for a refreshed model, but probably the Redmi Note 8T will only be available in European countries such as Spain and Italy where NFC use is quite prevalent. Also, the Redmi Note 8 is not sold in these countries. This further strengthens the speculation.
Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 8T is already up for preorders at Giztop for a price starting at $199. There is no info yet as to when the smartphone will formally go on sale.
