TCL is a China-based television brand that also makes smartphones but launches them under Alcatel branding. However, at CES 2020 the company has taken everybody by surprise by announcing its self-branded smartphone series dubbed as TCL 10 L, TCL 10 Pro, and TCL 10 5G smartphones.
All the smartphones come with the quad-rear camera setup, curiously aligned horizontally at the upper part of the rear panel. The smartphones make use of the proprietary TCL CSOT display with NXTVISION optimization technology.
Another noteworthy stuff that is to be highlighted is that the TCL 10 L and TCL 5G feature flat-screen but the TCL 10 Pro rocks an edged display with AMOLED technology.
Also, the former two smartphones make use of a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and have punch-hole cut out for selfie camera, whereas the latter one i.e. the TCL 10 Pro is armed with an in-display fingerprint scanner and has a water-drop notch for the selfie camera.
TCL 10 5G
Starting off the TCL 10 5G, the smartphone is the first 5G smartphone from the company and falls in the mid-tier ballpark as it will be using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 700-series chipset which in probability is the recently launched Snapdragon 765 SoC with an integrated X52 5G modem.
The TCL 10 5G will pack an AMOLED screen with a hole-punch cutout on the top-left corner. The back has a reflective holographic design and features a quad-camera setup. The renders of the phone reveal that it will wield a 64MP primary sensor and a macro sensor. The fingerprint scanner sits below the camera module.
TCL 10 L
The TCL 10 L is the base variant in the lineup with a physical fingerprint sensor at the back and a hole-punch cutout at the front similar to the TCL 10 5G. The back has a reflective glass design with a diagonal pattern.
The rear is mounted with four cameras with a 48MP primary sensor leading the pack. The camera setup also includes a macro sensor.
TCL 10 Pro
The TCL 10 Pro, as previously said, is the only device in the lineup to have an edge-to-edge AMOLED display. Unlike the punch-hole cutout in the previous two smartphones, the TCL 10 Pro has small water-drop notch to house the selfie camera.
The phone has a reflective back in the glowy pattern. The fingerprint scanner at the back is missing and instead integrated into the display. The quad-rear camera is very much the same and here also like the TCL 10 5G the primary sensor is of 64MP resolution.
The full details regarding all the three smartphones will come to light when the company will launch the devices full-fledged on February 22 at the MWC 2020 in Barcelona.
The pricings are not known as yet but there is a hint that the TCL 10 5G will cost under $500 which will be an interesting price point to undercut other 5G smartphones from different brands.
