TikTok launches its own phone with Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC and quad-rear cameras

Hugely popular TikTok app that helps users create and share short lip-sync videos has now launched a smartphone of its own. The idea behind the phone is to ensure quick, hassle-free access to the app, better shots as well as the all the preinstalled apps of ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company.

That said, the name of the phone is not what it was supposed to be earlier. Instead of TikTok Phone, it is called the Smartisan Jianguo Pro 3. For a perspective, Smartisan is the lesser-known smartphone manufacturer that the ByteDance had acquired earlier this year in pursuit of making its phone.

The Jianguo Pro 3 is a spec-heavy smartphone, but its primary purpose is to allow users to create great TikToK videos. Users won’t have to go through the hassle of unlocking or searching the TikToK app. They can just swipe up on the lock screen of the phone to get access to the app swiftly. Also, the TikTok effects and filter can be applied to other lengthy videos as well.

There are so many fancy camera-features, specially made keeping the TikTok users in mind. The Jianguo Pro 3 comes with a quad-rear-camera setup that includes a 48MP primary camera in alliance with a 13MP ultra-wide camera, an 8MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and a 5MP macro lens that can shoot as close at 2cm distance from the subject. The selfie camera is of 20MP resolution and sitting inside the dot notch on the front. The selfie camera is capable of churning out pixel-binned images.

The Smartisan Jianguo Pro 3 flaunts a 6.39-inch (2340×1080) full HD+ AMOLED display. Under the hood, the latest beefed-up processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus pumps power paired with up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage. The 256GB model is backed by UFS 3.0 storage while the 128GB model makes do with UFS 2.1 storage.

The smartphone runs an unspecified version of Android with the company’s custom UI, Smartisan OS 7 slapped on top. A 4,000mAh battery equipped with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ (18W) fast charging technology fuels the phone. Amongst other things, the Smartisan Jianguo Pro 3 supports 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, and USB Type-C port. There is no 3.5mm audio jack, however.

As for the pricing, the Smartisan Jianguo Pro 3 is set for CNY2,899 (Approx. USD412) for the 8GB RAM+128GB storage model and CNY 3,199 (Approx. USD455) for the 8GB RAM+256GB model. The top-end 12GB RAM+256GB model can be snagged at CNY3,599 (Approx. USD512). The smartphone will be available in Black, White, and Matsutake paint jobs.

There is no word as of now whether or not the Smartisan Jianguo Pro 3 will be shown the daylight in other markets beyond China.
