# How to Build an FC 27 Ultimate Team Without Wasting Coins

💰 Coin budgeting in a nutshell

- **Hold back**Keep 15 to 20 percent of the balance out of the plan. On 80,000 coins that is 12,000 to 16,000 you do not touch.
- **Buy problems**Pick the two or three positions losing you games, then price the fix. The name on the card comes second.
- **Selling costs**EA takes 5 percent of every transfer market sale, so a 20,000 coin listing pays out 19,000.
- **Price ceiling**Decide the most you will pay for each target before the market opens, and keep a cheaper fallback beside it.
- **Outside sellers**EA’s rules allow two sources of coins: earn them in game, or buy FC Points. Read the rules before you shop anywhere else.

}The FC 27 Web App opens before the game does, which means the first Ultimate Team decisions of the season get made on a phone, during a lunch break, against a balance that looks larger than it is. Eighty thousand coins feels like room to move. Then you spend 32,000 on a striker and find out your midfield still cannot get the ball to him.

That is not a shopping problem. It is a budgeting one. The clubs that improve tend to be the ones where every purchase answered a question somebody wrote down first, and where there were still coins left when the next question turned up.

Spend the plan, *not* the balance.

Three habits separate a club that improves from one that just churns cards. None of them need a spreadsheet.

Reserve

Coins you decide not to spend

Hold 15 to 20 percent back. On 80,000 that is 12,000 to 16,000 sitting there so one bad buy does not force a second one.

Priorities

Two or three positions, not eleven

Split 30,000 across three small upgrades and you will feel none of them. Put it into the position that keeps losing you games and you will.

Ceilings

A number set before the market opens

Every target gets a maximum and a cheaper fallback. Written down in advance, walking away is easy.

Set a spending budget
---------------------

![Line drawing of a person at a desk reviewing figures on a phone and a laptop](https://bestforandroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/budgeting-personal-finance-bnw-h2-1-what-changed-after-mint-shut-down.jpg)

Start by separating the number in your balance from the number you are allowed to spend. Those are not the same figure. If you have 80,000 coins, 80,000 is not the transfer budget. Somewhere between 12,000 and 20,000 of it should be money you have already decided not to touch.

The reserve is what lets you react. Prices move. A card you bought turns out to be wrong for how you actually play. A full back gets exposed in three games running. With coins held back, all of that is fixable without selling a starter to pay for it.

Choose the reserve first, then divide what is left. The exact percentage matters less than the fact that you picked it before you opened the market rather than after you saw a price you liked.

### Decide the striker line before you go looking at strikers

Say your goalkeeper is already fine and your attack is not. Write down that the striker gets the largest share and the keeper gets nothing. That one sentence is what stops a good keeper card at a good price from eating coins that would have changed more games somewhere else.

Buy problems, not names
-----------------------

Before you bid

- Which two positions are costing you the most goals, at either end of the pitch?
- What is that position failing at: finishing, passing range, recovery pace, first contact?
- Would fixing it change results, or just change the card art on the squad screen?
- What is the cheapest card that genuinely does that job?

Before you buy anyone, work out which two or three positions are holding the team back. A famous attacker is tempting and will not help much if the midfield cannot move the ball forward, or if the back line keeps getting pulled apart.

Think in jobs rather than names. A striker who misses good chances is a finishing problem. A striker who never gets a chance at all is a midfield problem, and a better striker will not fix it.

This makes the budget easier to write, too. Every target has a reason attached, so the question stops being which expensive player you can afford and becomes how cheaply you can fix a specific fault.

Type in what you have. The split follows the same priority order the rest of this article argues for.

Rebuilding that reserve by selling would mean listing about 16,842 coins of tradeable items, because EA keeps 5 percent of every transfer market sale.

})();Take 80,000 coins. Hold 16,000 back and 64,000 is left to spend. Split that by weakness rather than evenly and you get roughly 25,000 for a striker, 19,000 for a central midfielder, 14,000 for a centre back, and 5,000 for depth.

Now the part that actually happens. The striker you wanted is listed at 32,000, not 25,000. You are 7,000 short and the rest of the plan has not moved.

Spending the reserve is the obvious response and it is rarely the best one. You can buy a cheaper striker, delay the upgrade, sell tradeable items you have stopped using, or keep earning through normal Ultimate Team play until the gap closes on its own.

Some players look outside the game at this point. U7BUY’s [Buy FC 27 Coins](https://www.u7buy.com/fc27/coins) page lists third-party coin offers side by side so they can be compared. Read what EA’s own rules say about outside sellers, further down this page, before you go that route.

A gap that size means the target was never inside this budget. The card you wanted, for nowRunning short is not a failed plan. Usually one line of it needs changing and the rest survives.

Measure the gap before you decide anything, because the size of it dictates the move. A 5,000 coin shortfall and a 50,000 coin shortfall are different problems and they do not share a solution.

Waiting is underrated. Transfer market prices move with supply and demand, so the price in front of you is a snapshot rather than a verdict. Set a ceiling, walk away, check again later.

Your own club is usually worth more than you think. Tradeable players and consumables you have stopped using can go back on the market. Just do the arithmetic on the net figure rather than the listing price, because every sale is taxed.

Protect the reserve
-------------------

![Line drawing of a player at a gaming desk with coins stacked beside the screen](https://bestforandroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/coin-master-free-spins-coins-bnw-hero.jpg)

A reserve is not coins waiting for a good enough reason. It is insurance against the squad changing under you.

Say you kept 15,000 aside and three weeks later your left back is the reason you keep conceding. You fix it, immediately, without selling a starter to fund the repair. That is the whole job.

The rule that keeps a reserve intact: touch it only when a player already in the eleven genuinely needs replacing. Everything else, meaning the upgrade you want rather than the one you need, waits until the spending budget has rebuilt itself through normal play.

It draws a hard line between wanting a card and needing a fix, and that line is what stops a budget quietly turning back into a balance.

The real cost of an upgrade

Two ways to fix the same midfieldCard priceKnock-on changesReal costThe card you want40,000Forces a second signing at 20,000 to make the shape work60,000The card that fits35,000None. The rest of the eleven stays where it is35,000The price of a player is not the price of the decision. Some signings drag other changes along behind them.

Work the example above. A card costs 40,000, but slotting it into your preferred shape means replacing another position for 20,000. The change costs 60,000, and the squad screen will not tell you that anywhere.

Compare it against what else is available before you commit. A 35,000 card that fits the shape you already play is the cheaper purchase even though the sticker prices look close, and the difference is not small.

The same arithmetic applies when you are looking at U7BUY’s [FUT Coins for Sale](https://www.u7buy.com/fc27/coins) listings. Start from the size of the specific gap in your plan rather than letting the amount on offer decide how much you think you need.

Before you use any outside seller

- EA notes in its [guidance on coins and points](https://help.ea.com/en/articles/ea-sports-fc/coins-and-points-safety/) that coins can only be earned in game or bought as FC Points, and that buying them from a third party breaks the rules.
- The penalties EA lists run from removing the coins and cutting off transfer market access to a temporary or permanent ban on the account.
- Any outside seller also needs a route to move coins to you, and that route usually runs through your account. That is a second risk sitting on top of the first.

Set a price ceiling
-------------------

Setting a ceiling that holds

1. Write the maximum for each position down before you open the market.
2. Name a fallback card that does the same job for less.
3. Check the listing against the ceiling, not against the card you want.
4. If it is over, close the tab and look again tomorrow.

A price ceiling is the highest number you will pay for a given player. That is all it is, and it works because you set it while you were still thinking clearly.

If the midfield line is 18,000, a 28,000 card is not a small stretch. The extra 10,000 has to come out of another position, and the position it comes out of is usually the one you had not looked at yet.

Give every important slot two names: the one you want inside budget, and a cheaper one that still does the job. Having the second name written down is what makes walking away from the first one easy.

Spend where it shows
--------------------

![Line drawing of a person comparing three phone screens, one showing stacked coins](https://bestforandroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/budgeting-personal-finance-bnw-h2-7-how-to-pick-the-right-one.jpg)

A balanced squad is not one where every position got an equal number of coins. Some of your players are already doing their jobs.

Suppose the keeper and both full backs are steady and the midfield keeps giving the ball away. Splitting 30,000 across three modest upgrades produces three cards you barely notice. Putting 25,000 of it into one midfielder who actually holds the ball changes how matches feel.

Then play enough games to find out whether it worked. Ten matches, not two. A bad run after a signing is often positioning or tactics rather than the card, and telling those two apart is worth real coins over a season.

The small purchase leak
-----------------------

![Line drawing of a person holding a phone surrounded by small spending and alert icons](https://bestforandroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Set-Up-Alerts-Before-Spending-Grows.jpeg)

Big transfers are easy to see. They leave a hole in the balance you cannot miss.

Small ones are the problem. A cheap replacement here, a few consumables there, a squad building challenge you fed with cards you had to buy first. Individually none of it registers. Added up over a fortnight it is the striker you were saving for.

Set an allowance for optional spending, something like 5 percent of the balance, and stop when it is gone. That keeps experiments away from the squad budget, and it means the coins you meant to save are still there when the right card finally appears.

Checking the balance before and after a session takes ten seconds. It is the cheapest habit in this article.

Managing the club on mobile
---------------------------

![Line drawing of a person on a sofa managing something on a phone](https://bestforandroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/budgeting-personal-finance-bnw-hero-1.jpg)

EA’s Web App and Companion App let you run the club without turning the console on. You cannot play matches through them, which is rather the point: everything else is admin, and admin is better done in short bursts.

The [Companion App on Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ea.gp.fifaultimate) covers squad building, transfer listings, challenges and reward claims. Ten minutes on a phone is enough to relist expired items, check whether a target has come down, and collect what you earned last night.

The budget travels with you. Same reserve, same ceilings. A phone makes impulse buying easier than a console does, because there is no controller and no loading screen between you and a confirm button, so the numbers you wrote down matter more here, not less.

### One thing worth checking before you spend real money

FC Points are the only coins-adjacent item EA sells directly, and they go through the store on your platform. If a purchase goes wrong on Android, Google’s [refund policy for Play Store purchases](https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637) sets out the window you have, and it is a short one. Worth knowing before you tap rather than after.

Review after every upgrade
--------------------------

![Line drawing of a person with a clipboard reviewing a row of ranked options](https://bestforandroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/p477-how-we-picked-bnw.jpg)

A budget that does not change when the squad changes is just a document.

Once the first major signing lands, recalculate. If the 64,000 spending budget is now 32,000, the old plan describes a club that no longer exists. Rank the remaining weaknesses again: the second problem on the list may now deserve 20,000, and the third may be able to wait a month.

Nothing says the rebuild has to finish tonight. Two positions fixed properly with coins still in hand beats five positions half fixed and a balance at zero.

It is also the honest test of whether the plan was any good. If you can still answer the question “what am I fixing next, and what will it cost”, the budget survived contact with the market.

Build in stages
---------------

Ultimate Team gets easier when coins are a resource you allocate rather than a number you react to. Set the spending limit, hold the reserve, rank the positions by what they are costing you, and price each fix before you go looking at cards.

When the balance comes up short you still have moves. Cheaper alternative, wait for the price, sell what you are not using, push the upgrade back a week. None of those are failures. Spending the reserve because a card happened to be there is.

There is no clever arithmetic anywhere in this. The only thing a beginner budget has to do is stop one purchase from dictating the rest of the squad.

What to carry into the season

- **Reserve first**Decide it before anything else and treat it as unavailable until a starter genuinely needs replacing.
- **Rank by damage**Fix the position costing you goals, not the one with the most attractive cards on the market.
- **Net, not gross**Every sale loses 5 percent to EA, so plan sales on what actually lands in your balance.
- **Two names per slot**A target and a fallback makes the walk-away decision automatic.
- **Recalculate**After every major signing, re-rank what is left against the coins you actually have.
