Following a string of teasers, the Vivo APEX 2020 is finally unveiled. The smartphone was originally slated to be announced at MWC 2020, but due to the latter being canceled over the Corona Virus outbreak Vivo launched the phone online.

The Vivo APEX 2020 comes with several path-breaking innovations such as an in-display selfie camera, an edgeless design with no holes or physical buttons, a 120-degree curved display, gimble-like OIS, and 5x-7.5x continuous optical zoom features.

The Vivo APEX 2020 is, however, a concept phone so all the features showcased are not likely to make it to a single device. But some of its features will soon likely feature in a few of the flagship phones from the company. That said, let’s take a look at the detailed specifications of the Vivo APEX 2020.

The Vivo APEX 2020 is built around a 6.45-inch FullView 2,330x1080p full HD+ display with an incredible 120-degree curvature on both sides, thus ensuring a complete edge-less front panel. The display also integrates a fingerprint scanner underneath.

On the inside, the smartphone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC mated to Adreno 650 GPU, 12GB RAM, and 256GB internal storage. On the software end, it runs Android 10.

Talking about the camera, the Vivo APEX 2020 features a 16MP selfie shooter embedded right into the display, eschewing any requirement of a notch, cutout or the pop-up mechanism.

Around the back, the phone mounts two cameras. The main sensor is of 48MP with gimble-like stabilization that ensures a 200% extended angle of stabilization vis-à-vis regular OIS. The second one is a 16MP periscopic camera with continuous 5x to 7.5x optical zoom comprising two fixed lenses and two moving lenses.

Vivo didn’t specify the battery size but says the smartphone is equipped with 60W Wireless Super FlashCharge capable of filling the 2,000mAh juice in just 20 minutes. The wireless charging is necessitated since the smartphone lacks holes in its body. All the ports and holes are replaced by virtual pressure sensing buttons.

Also, the Vivo APEX 2020 doesn’t come with the traditional speakers. Instead, it makes use of Screen SoundCasting technology by which the sound emanates from underneath the screen itself.

Other important aspects include Voice Auto-Focus and instant photobomb removal which interestingly removes the passers-by or the unwanted subjects in the background from the images.
