The Vivo iQOO Neo saw the daylight in July this year, and now the gaming smartphone has seen the launch of its upgraded version, the Vivo iQOO Neo 855. As the name suggests, the Vivo iQOO Neo 855 is underpinned by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC as against the Snapdragon 845 SoC found in the iQ00 Neo.

Besides the powerful processor, the Vivo iQOO Neo 855 also comes with a boost in charging standard. Instead of 22.5W fast charging the Vivo iQOO Neo 855 now has 33W fast charging support. A 4,500mAh battery inside the phone fills to the brim at a 35% more rapid rate than the original iQOO Neo.

The Vivo iQOO Neo 855 is priced at CNY1,998 (Approx. USD280/EUR255) for the 6GB RAM+64GB storage model and CNY2,298 (Approx. USD325/EUR293) for the 6GB RAM+128GB storage model. The 8GB RAM+128GB storage and the 8GB RAM+256GB storage models are set for the price tags of CNY2,498 (Approx. USD353/EUR319) and CNY2,698 (Approx. USD380/EUR340), respectively.

The Vivo iQOO Neo 855 will be available in Blue, Black, and White color variants. It is already up for preorders before it goes on sale starting November 1.

The smartphone features a 6.38-inch 1080×2340 full HD+ Super AMOLED screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, a water-drop notch, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The display also supports HDR10 and DC dimming.

Under the hood, the Snapdragon 855 SoC is paired with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage based on UFS 3.0. The base 6GB RAM+64GB trim, however, comes with UFS 2.1 storage. The smartphone runs FuntouchOS 9 based on Android 9 Pie.

For an optimized gaming experience, the Vivo iQOO New 855 has effected some tweaks in software to support the hardware. There is additional software such as Game Magic Box and Game Space 2.5. The liquid cooling combined Multi Turbo 2.0 and Wi-Fi acceleration technology ensures long lag-free gaming sessions.

On its back, the Vivo iQOO Neo 855 carries a triple-camera setup with LED flash. The configuration comprises a 12MP f/1.79 primary sensor, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. Upfront, there is a 12MP selfie camera which finds a place inside the water-drop notch.

Other notable features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm audio jack. Being a gaming smartphone, it is slightly on the heavier side at 198.5 grams. In terms of dimension, it measures 159.53×75.23×8.13mm.

As of now, there is no word whether the smartphone will also be carried forward to the international market. But if it is made available beyond China, it will be an enticing prospect given its affordable price tag of USD280 only.
