Motorola launches Motorola One Hyper, its first pop-up selfie camera phone at $140

After launching the Motorola RAZR 2019, the first foldable smartphone from Motorola the Lenovo-owned company has now launched the Motorola One Hyper, its first smartphone with a pop-up selfie camera as well as a 64MP dual camera on the rear.

Like the other Motorola One-series smartphone such as the Motorola One Macro and One Action, the One Hyper is no doubt camera-centric as well but it goes further to offer 45W fast charging technology, which is in line with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+.

The smartphone sports a 6.5-inch 1080x2340p full HD+ notch-less LCD screen with 19:9 aspect ratio and 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. Motorola for the selfie camera uses a now-in-trend pop-up mechanism at the top-right of the phone. A 32MP f/1.8 selfie shooter slides out from it when the selfie mode is activated.

On the rear, aside from a fingerprint scanner surrounded by an LED notification ring the smartphone sports a vertical dual-rear camera setup on the top-left corner where the 64MP primary camera is the star of the show. The second one on the rear is an 8MP camera with a wide-angle lens.

Both the rear and front cameras of the One Hyper use pixel binning technique, combining four adjacent pixels into one to offer better-detailed images, especially in low light condition. The phone can record 4K videos at 30 fps and 1080p videos at 60 fps.

On the performance front, the Motorola One Hyper is underpinned by a mid-range 11nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 octa-core SoC that also powers other Motorola phones such as the Moto Z4 Play, Motorola One Zoom, Motorola G8 Plus, etc.

The processor in the Motorola One Hyper works in sync with Adreno 612 GPU, 4GB RAM, and 128GB internal storage that can be expanded to up to 1TB further via microSD card.

The smartphone is shipped with Android 10 out-of-the-box with near-stock experience as is the case with other Motorola One-series of smartphones which are on Android One program. A 4,000mAh battery revs up everything drawing charge through a USB Type-C port.

As mentioned earlier, 45W fast charging technology significantly reduces charging time. But that doesn’t come in the package. An 18W adapter is bundled out with phone instead.

Other connectivity options of the phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi- GPS, Bluetooth, and 3.5mm headphone jack.

The smartphone is available to purchase in the United States priced at $399.99 in Deep Blue Sea and Dark Amber color options. A third Fresh Orchid color variant will launch in the global market only.

Motorola is yet to reveal the International availability of the One Hyper; however, it is expected soon to spill the bean in this regard. Stay tuned.
