- A Weibo tipster says Honor is developing Robot Phone 2 and a standalone handheld device.
- The second generation is tentatively tipped for Q2 2027, under a year after the original’s August 12 China launch.
- The leaked camera spec is unclear, since translations range from 100MP to “hundreds of megapixels.”
A Weibo tipster says Honor is already developing a Robot Phone 2, with a tentative Q2 2027 launch window, less than a year after the original went on sale in China. The leak matters because the first Robot Phone, a 9,999 yuan handset with a motorized gimbal camera, remains China-only, leaving buyers elsewhere to wonder whether the second generation will ever reach global markets.
Honor’s Robot Phone had a motorized camera arm with a 4D gimbal, a 200MP sensor, and a “global launch event.” Still, it did not have global availability. So when a tipster says Honor is already working on the next model, the question is less about what it can do than whether you’ll be allowed to buy one.
Weibo tipster Smart Pikachu says Robot Phone 2 and a standalone handheld device are “accelerating”, per the post’s machine translation. Android Authority reports that a follow-up comment puts the phone in a tentative Q2 2027 window. Honor hasn’t officially confirmed any of it.
The pitch, as Huawei Central relays the leak, is smarter AI features, imaging co-developed with ARRI again, and a new thermal solution so heavy tasks and apps don’t stall the overall experience.
In practice, in the original Robot Phone, the camera pops out on a titanium gimbal motor, which lets it stabilize shots and track a subject. The first model pairs a 200MP main sensor with a 200MP periscope lens and a 50MP ultrawide, in a body that weighs 248 grams and is 9.59mm thick.

Interestingly, the original Robot Phone was unveiled and is set to be launched globally in Q3 2026. However, it was later revealed that the phone will be China-only due to several factors, including AI and software localization, as well as hardware and durability logistics, especially since there were concerns over build quality and wear and tear; Honor provides a specialized one-year gimbal replacement protection service tied to the domestic market.
So, will Robot Phone 2 leave China? Nobody has said. Honor has signaled that future generations of the phone may be better prepared and designed for a global launch once the AI and software are adapted for the global market. If you live outside China, the only realistic way to get the first model is an import.
A standalone handheld device is another segment where development is accelerating; if the leak proves true, that would put Honor in the gimbal-camera market segment. Since the tipster hasn’t described the device, for now we can only wait until Q2 2027 for the final product to be unveiled, or until we get more leaks.
