Galaxy S25 Owners, Your Long Wait for One UI 8.5 Is Almost Over

Samsung is finally preparing to release the stable One UI 8.5 update for its flagship Galaxy S25 series phones. After months of beta testing and nine builds, the rollout could begin by the end of April, with global release expected in early May. Along with the performance fixes and improvements for a smoother experience, this update will bring AI-powered features.

I’m going to be real with you. Watching Galaxy S25 owners wait for One UI 8.5 while S26 users have been enjoying it since February has been genuinely painful to witness. But there’s finally a light at the end of the tunnel.

As per the conversation screenshot shared on X, a Samsung representative, while responding to a user question about beta delays, confirmed that the stable One UI 8.5 rollout for the Galaxy S25 series is expected to begin on April 30 in South Korea, with international users getting it around May 4. So, if you’re outside Korea, mark May 4 on your calendar.

Earlier this month, a tipster, Tarun Vats, on X also confirmed the same dates for the expected stable release of One UI 8.5 for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series.

I find it a little embarrassing, honestly, and I say this as someone who genuinely likes Samsung. Android 16 has been out since June 2025, and we’re almost nearing a stable release of Android 17, yet the Galaxy S25, which is Samsung’s own flagship from just earlier this year, is still sitting on an older version. Pixel phones, OnePlus flagships, they’ve all been on Android 16 for months.

This gap shouldn’t exist at this price point.

Nine betas. That’s how many Samsung pushed before getting here. Samsung hasn’t introduced many new features in the recent betas, focusing instead on bug fixes and stability improvements, which at least tells me they’re being careful. But careful doesn’t make up for slow.

Now here’s the part that actually makes me excited about this upgrade. Once One UI 8.5 final lands, S25 owners can expect features like AI-Powered Call Screening, Creative Studio for professional-grade image and video editing, Ocean Mode for enhanced underwater photography, Agentic AI, and an improved Audio Eraser. These are the features that were previously exclusive to the Galaxy S26.

So, this isn’t just a version number change. It’s your S25 functionally becoming a more capable phone.

One UI 8.5 stable on the Galaxy S26 is reportedly one of the most stable software experiences around, so at least the wait should produce something genuinely polished.

Two more weeks, S25 owners. Hang in there.
