You can choose if you want your account to be private or open. If you set it to be a private account, then only your friends and followers can see your posts. If any person wants to see your post or wants to follow, then he’ll send you a follow request to you, and you can choose if you want to allow him or not.

But if you have an open account, then anyone can see your posts, and anyone can start following you. Then, you can also use hashtags (#) on your posts, if anyone searches that hashtag on the search bar then your posts will appear under that hashtag.

You can also follow certain hashtags if you like them and then you’ll be able to see what people are sharing while following that hashtag.

Instagram DMs

There is also a new feature added called Instagram Direct which is a nice implementation. It is a personal chat to talk to your friends on Instagram. It is also known as Direct Message or DM.

You can also go live on Instagram. When you are live, your followers will get a notification that you’re live streaming. They can watch your live stream and also comment and like it. After you’ve ended your live stream, you can also post it on your story so that anybody who didn’t get to watch it live can watch it afterward, but it’ll remain there for 24 hours only.

If you go into the camera tab, there you can see some different options. You can choose from a normal photo or video, a text picture, live, boomerang, superzoom, focus, rewind, and hands-free.

Depending on the option you choose, you’ll get different possibilities. Like if you use the text option, then it’ll give some different backgrounds on which you can write something. Live is for going live on Instagram. Boomerang is for making small rewinding gifs.

Superzoom gives you various sound effects and options to specify a certain subject that you want. The Focus is like a filter that blurs everything except for your face and hands-free is used for recording a video without the need of holding a button.

To use the Boomerang option, you’ll need to download an app called Boomerang from Play Store that’ll allow you to make a boomerang video.

IGTV is another big thing that is new to Instagram. It allows the user to make videos like on YouTube but in a vertical orientation. You can create your channel and post videos on it.
