What is AN WhatsApp
AN WhatsApp is a modified build of WhatsApp, kept up to date by a developer group called AN Mods. WhatsApp Inc. and Meta have nothing to do with it. What it does is take the familiar WhatsApp layout and pile on privacy, appearance and chat features that the official app either locks away or skips entirely. The giveaway is the gold accent theme, which stands out from the usual green the moment you open it.
The pull is easy to understand. If you want more say over what other people can see about you, more control over how the app looks, and a couple of extra messaging tricks, a mod like this one scratches that itch. AN WhatsApp leans hard into privacy. You can hide your last seen, your typing status and your blue ticks for one contact at a time, not as a single all-or-nothing switch.
Since it shares the same package family as a WhatsApp build, AN WhatsApp installs as its own separate app and signs in with your number exactly the way the official client does. The catch is that it lives outside the Play Store and outside Meta's support. That is why every section on this page treats it as an unofficial, use-at-your-own-risk download.
A look at the app
What this mod offers
- Granular privacy controls
Hide your last seen, blue ticks, the second tick, typing and recording status, and your online presence. You set each one per contact instead of flipping it for everyone at once.
- Ghost mode
A one-tap toggle that hides your activity, so you can read and reply without telling everyone you are online.
- Custom themes and gold styling
A built-in theme store sits alongside the signature gold look, so you can restyle chat bubbles, headers and icons well past the default palette.
- Larger media and status limits
Send longer video clips, post status updates that run past the usual time limit, and share sharper images that skip the standard compression.
- Anti-revoke and read-deleted messages
Hang on to messages and statuses that the sender later deletes. A recalled message still shows up on your side of the chat.
- Anti-ban patches
The build ships with the developer's latest anti-ban work. It lowers your odds of getting flagged, but it does not erase the risk, because this is still an unofficial client.
How to install
- Back up your chats first
In the official WhatsApp, open Settings, then Chats, then Chat backup, and run a fresh backup. That keeps your history safe before you make the switch.
- Download the APK
Tap the download button on this page. The file drops into your Downloads folder.
- Allow installs from this source
Open Settings, search
Install unknown apps, pick your browser or file manager, and switch the permission on. - Open the downloaded file
Tap the APK in your Downloads. Android's package installer opens and shows you the permissions it wants.
- Install and verify your number
Confirm the install, open AN WhatsApp, and verify with the same phone number you use on WhatsApp. Restore your backup when it asks.
