JTWhatsApp
Version 25.8.35 · JTMods (JiMODs) · com.whatsapp · based on official WhatsApp

An unofficial WhatsApp build from JTMods that layers privacy toggles, theme packs, and larger media limits on top of the official messenger. Same chats, expanded controls.

What is JTWhatsApp

JTWhatsApp is a modified WhatsApp client published by JTMods, the developer team also known as JiMODs and Jimtechs. It is built by reverse-engineering the official WhatsApp APK and adding a new settings layer for privacy, appearance, and media handling. The chat protocol and end-to-end encryption stay the same. What changes is the wrapper around them.

The audience splits along familiar lines. Privacy-leaning users want to hide last-seen, blue ticks, and typing indicators on a per-contact basis. Theme enthusiasts want a stock of community-made skins and the ability to repaint the entire interface. Heavy senders want to push past the 30-image and 95 MB ceilings of the official client. JTWhatsApp packages all three groups in one install.

The project is sideload-only. It is not on Google Play and never will be, since the Play Store does not host clients that connect to Meta servers without Meta sign-off. Distribution moves through community sites, mirrors, and direct downloads from JTMods.

Key features

Anti-ban shield
The latest JTMods build ships an updated anti-ban patch tuned for the current Meta detection wave. No guarantees, but it is the project's headline change in 2026.
Granular privacy
Hide blue ticks, second tick, typing status, recording status, and online presence. Toggle each one per-contact, not just globally.
Theme store
Built-in theme browser with thousands of community-made skins. Apply with one tap; revert to default at any time without reinstalling.
90-image send
Send up to 90 photos in a single message instead of the stock 30. Original quality preserved; no recompression to chat thumbnail size.
Anti-revoke
Keep messages others delete on their end. Useful when a sender pulls a message back; you still see the original text and media in your thread.
2GB media uploads
Share documents and video clips up to 2 GB, well past the official 95 MB cap. Lossless transfer through the same WhatsApp infrastructure.

What this mod offers

JTWhatsApp is not a chat alternative. It is the same WhatsApp service with a thicker settings menu around it. The mod stacks privacy, appearance, and capacity changes that the official client does not surface.

  • Per-contact privacy toggles.

Hide last-seen, blue ticks, second tick, typing, and recording for individual contacts. The official client offers only global on/off switches.

  • Ghost mode.

Read messages and view statuses without triggering blue ticks or the seen indicator. Useful for skimming work chats without committing to a reply.

  • Built-in theme store.

Several thousand community themes available from inside the app, with one-tap apply and one-tap revert. Custom font packs and home-screen widget skins included.

  • Anti-revoke.

When a sender deletes their message, the original text and media stay readable on your side. The mod sidesteps the "this message was deleted" placeholder.

  • Bigger sends.

Up to 90 photos in one message at full resolution, plus document uploads up to 2 GB. Status video length extended past the 30-second cap.

  • Updated anti-ban patch.

JTMods rewrote the ban-evasion logic for the 2026 detection cycle. Earlier builds shipped a one-hour ban on registration; the current build resolves that with a clean install.

How to install

The install follows the standard Android sideload flow. Note that JTWhatsApp installs over the official WhatsApp package, so back up your chats from the official client first.

  1. Back up your official WhatsApp

Open the official WhatsApp, go to Settings then Chats then Chat Backup, and run a local plus Drive backup. JTWhatsApp uses the same backup file on first launch.

  2. Uninstall the official client

JTWhatsApp shares the com.whatsapp package ID with the official build. You cannot keep both installed under the same package. Uninstall the official app before sideloading.

  3. Download the JTWhatsApp APK

Tap the download button on this page. The file lands in your default Downloads folder.

  4. Allow installs from this source

Open Settings, search for Install unknown apps, find your file manager or browser, and toggle the permission on.

  5. Open the downloaded APK

Tap the file in your Downloads folder. Android's package installer opens and shows the requested permissions, then tap Install.

  6. Verify your number and restore

Open JTWhatsApp, enter your phone number, complete OTP verification, and restore from the chat backup you made in step one.

FAQ

Is JTWhatsApp safe to use?
JTWhatsApp is a third-party build of WhatsApp, not a Meta product. It works in practice for many users, but using it puts your phone number outside Meta's Terms of Service and the account can be banned with no warning. We classify the safety status as Un-Safe for that reason. Treat the install as a calculated risk, not a drop-in replacement.
Will I lose my chats if I switch from official WhatsApp?
Not if you back up first. Run a chat backup inside the official client, then uninstall the official client before installing JTWhatsApp. On first launch JTWhatsApp will detect the local backup file and offer to restore it. Drive backups are also picked up if you sign in with the same Google account.
What is the difference between JTWhatsApp and WhatsApp Plus or GBWhatsApp?
All three are unofficial WhatsApp builds with overlapping privacy and theming features. JTWhatsApp focuses on a built-in theme store with thousands of skins, an updated anti-ban patch, and large media sends. The WhatsApp Plus mod and GBWhatsApp build share the lineage and offer similar feature menus with different default themes. The sanctioned baseline is the official WhatsApp Messenger from Meta, which has none of the mod customizations but ships with no ban risk attached to your phone number.
Will JTWhatsApp work with WhatsApp Business contacts?
Yes, the underlying protocol is the same. Messages to and from WhatsApp Business numbers work without configuration. The official Business client does not need to be installed on your phone.
How big is the download?
The JTWhatsApp APK is approximately 95 MB. The install footprint runs a little larger after first launch because of cached themes and emoji packs.
Where can I find similar third-party Android tools and customization apps?
For broader app discovery beyond messengers, our editorial roundups cover the wider landscape, from ringtone customization apps to entertainment and utility picks vetted for sideload compatibility. Communication tools are one slice; the full BFA library spans gaming, video editing, productivity, and developer tools.
