An unofficial WhatsApp build from JTMods. It bolts privacy toggles, theme packs, and bigger media limits onto the messenger you already use. Same chats, more control over them.
What is JTWhatsApp
JTWhatsApp is a modified WhatsApp client from JTMods, the team you may also know as JiMODs or Jimtechs. They take the official WhatsApp APK apart and add a second settings layer on top, covering privacy, looks, and how media is handled. The chat protocol and end-to-end encryption do not change. The wrapper around them does.
Three kinds of people reach for it. Privacy-minded users want to hide last-seen, blue ticks, and typing indicators per contact instead of all at once. Theme fans want a library of community skins and the freedom to repaint the whole interface. Heavy senders want room past the official 30-image and 95 MB limits. JTWhatsApp covers all three in a single install.
This is a sideload-only project. It is not on Google Play and it never will be, because the Play Store does not allow clients that talk to Meta servers without Meta's blessing. You get it from community sites, mirrors, and direct downloads from JTMods.

What this mod offers
JTWhatsApp is not a different chat app. It is the same WhatsApp service with a fatter settings menu wrapped around it. The mod stacks privacy, appearance, and capacity options that the official client keeps off the table.
- Per-contact privacy toggles.
Hide last-seen, blue ticks, the second tick, typing, and recording for one contact at a time. The official app only gives you a single global switch for these.
- Ghost mode.
Read messages and open statuses without firing off blue ticks or the seen marker. Handy when you want to skim a work chat now and reply later.
- Built-in theme store.
Several thousand community themes live inside the app. Apply one with a tap, undo it with another. Custom font packs and home-screen widget skins come along too.
- Anti-revoke.
When someone deletes a message they sent you, the original text and media stay readable on your end. You skip the "this message was deleted" placeholder entirely.
- Bigger sends.
Send up to 90 photos in one go at full resolution, and push documents as large as 2 GB. Status videos also run longer than the usual 30-second cap.
- Updated anti-ban patch.
JTMods reworked the ban-evasion code for the 2026 detection cycle. Older builds slapped a one-hour ban on registration. The current build clears that with a fresh install.
How to install
Installing follows the normal Android sideload steps. One thing to watch: JTWhatsApp installs over the official WhatsApp package, so back up your chats from the official app before you start.
- Back up your official WhatsApp
Open the official WhatsApp, head to Settings, then Chats, then Chat Backup, and run both a local and a Drive backup. JTWhatsApp picks up that same backup file the first time it launches.
- Uninstall the official client
JTWhatsApp uses the
com.whatsapppackage ID, the same one the official build uses. Two apps cannot share a package, so uninstall the official app before you sideload this one. - Download the JTWhatsApp APK
Tap the download button on this page. The file drops into your default Downloads folder.
- Allow installs from this source
Open Settings, search for
Install unknown apps, pick your file manager or browser, and switch the permission on. - Open the downloaded APK
Tap the file in your Downloads folder. Android's package installer opens, shows you the permissions it wants, and then you tap Install.
- Verify your number and restore
Open JTWhatsApp, type in your phone number, finish OTP verification, and restore from the chat backup you made back in step one.

FAQ
- Is JTWhatsApp safe to use?
- JTWhatsApp is a third-party build of WhatsApp, not a Meta product. It works in practice for many users, but using it puts your phone number outside Meta's Terms of Service and the account can be banned with no warning. We classify the safety status as Un-Safe for that reason. Treat the install as a calculated risk, not a drop-in replacement.
- Will I lose my chats if I switch from official WhatsApp?
- Not if you back up first. Run a chat backup inside the official client, then uninstall the official client before installing JTWhatsApp. On first launch JTWhatsApp will detect the local backup file and offer to restore it. Drive backups are also picked up if you sign in with the same Google account.
- What is the difference between JTWhatsApp and WhatsApp Plus or GBWhatsApp?
- All three are unofficial WhatsApp builds with overlapping privacy and theming features. JTWhatsApp focuses on a built-in theme store with thousands of skins, an updated anti-ban patch, and large media sends. The WhatsApp Plus mod and GBWhatsApp build share the lineage and offer similar feature menus with different default themes. The sanctioned baseline is the official WhatsApp Messenger from Meta, which has none of the mod customizations but ships with no ban risk attached to your phone number.
- Will JTWhatsApp work with WhatsApp Business contacts?
- Yes, the underlying protocol is the same. Messages to and from WhatsApp Business numbers work without configuration. The official Business client does not need to be installed on your phone.
- How big is the download?
- The JTWhatsApp APK is approximately 95 MB. The install footprint runs a little larger after first launch because of cached themes and emoji packs.
- Where can I find similar third-party Android tools and customization apps?
- For broader app discovery beyond messengers, our editorial roundups cover the wider landscape, from ringtone customization apps to entertainment and utility picks vetted for sideload compatibility. Communication tools are one slice; the full BFA library spans gaming, video editing, productivity, and developer tools.
