A free, open-source manga reader for Android. Pull manga, manhwa, manhua, and webtoons from hundreds of sources through extensions, read offline, and sync your progress to the trackers you already use.
What Tachiyomi is
Tachiyomi is a free, open-source manga reader for Android, built and kept alive by a community of volunteers. It does not lock you into one catalogue. Instead it works through extensions: you install the sources you want, and the app pulls titles from hundreds of manga repositories into one tidy library. The code sits in the open on GitHub, so there is no paywall, no subscription, and no ads slipped into the reading view.
The reading experience is what keeps most people around. Flip pages left to right for manhwa, right to left for traditional manga, or scroll straight down for webtoons, and the app remembers the setting for each series. Chapters download for offline reading. The library sorts and filters by what you have not finished yet, and an incognito mode keeps a session out of your history.
Version 0.15.3 is the last official release. Work on the original app wound down after it, which makes 0.15.3 the most complete stable build you can get. It still installs and runs on most Android phones that clear the basic 5.0 floor.
A look inside
What this build offers
- Extension-based sources
Install only the source extensions you actually need, then browse them all through one shared library and a single global search.
- Offline downloads
Save chapters to the device for reading on a flight or a weak signal, with auto-delete for the ones you have already finished.
- Tracker sync
Hook up external tracking services so your reading progress stays in step across the platforms where you already follow series.
- Flexible reader modes
Switch between single page, double-page spreads, and continuous vertical scroll. The choice is set per series and remembered between sessions.
- Backup and restore
Export your library and settings to a backup file, so a new phone or a fresh install picks up right where you left off.
- No ads, no subscription
The project is open source and community-run, so there is no premium tier to unlock and nothing locked behind a payment.
