A free, open-source manga reader for Android. Pull manga, manhwa, manhua and webtoons from hundreds of sources through extensions, read offline, and sync your progress to the trackers you already use.
What Tachiyomi is
Tachiyomi is a free, open-source manga reader for Android built and maintained by a community of volunteers. Instead of locking you into one catalogue, it works through extensions: you install the sources you want, and the app pulls titles from hundreds of manga repositories into one clean library. The code is public on GitHub, so there is no paywall, no subscription, and no advertising tucked into the reading view.
The reading experience is the part most people stay for. You can flip pages left-to-right for manhwa, right-to-left for traditional manga, or scroll vertically for webtoons, and the app remembers the setting per series. Chapters download for offline reading, the library sorts and filters by what you have not finished, and an incognito mode keeps a private session out of your history.
Version 0.15.3 is the final official release. Development on the original app wound down after it, which makes 0.15.3 the most complete stable build, and it still installs and runs on most Android phones that meet the basic 5.0 floor.
A look inside
What this build offers
- Extension-based sources
Install only the source extensions you need and browse them through one shared library and global search.
- Offline downloads
Save chapters to the device for reading on a flight or a weak connection, with auto-delete for chapters you have already read.
- Tracker sync
Connect external tracking services so your reading progress stays in step across the platforms you already follow series on.
- Flexible reader modes
Switch between single page, double-page spreads, and continuous vertical scroll, set per series and remembered between sessions.
- Backup and restore
Export your library and settings to a backup file so a new phone or a fresh install picks up exactly where you left off.
- No ads, no subscription
Because the project is open source and community-run, there is no premium tier to unlock and nothing gated behind a payment.
